I have no idea why i'm doing this but i guess there's this sudden urge within me to write a review. So why not.
Artist:Die Apokalyptischen Reiter
Album: Riders of the Storm
Seriously, this band is still full of energy since '95. And they have gone increasingly 'patriotic' with more of their songs in their native tongue German. Though I get this feeling that their songs are very nordic and norwegian where there's alot of happy tunes including alot of violins and keyboard sounds.
The tracks that strike me the most are Friede Sei Mit Dir which is extremely energetic, and the song that got me their album in the first place. Though the ending was quite suddenly, nevertheless, it is still a great song.
Der Adler sounds more techno than the rest, and the inspiration background tune of the chorus really makes it quite impressive.
Another striking part of their songs is that throughout the whole album, everything sounds terribly super-charged and energetic, forgive me for repeating that word but truly, there is no space for a breather with Fuchs going all out with the vocals. Even though this album like the others are still full of life, I must say that unlike their last album Samurai which geared towards death metal, 24/7 death growls, Fuchs has 'calmed down' alot, the vocals used is alot cleaner, but that doesn't make it less wild and full of vibe, it's the emotions projected through the voice, not the ferocity of the voice itself.
Overall, the great complicated guitar riffs, heavy bass, occasional but ever rewarding keyboards and the cleaner vocals makes this album stand out from their rest, but then again, besides another few months to enjoy this compliation of classic thrash metal, we can only wait and hope that their next album is as good as this.
